And by the way I have written many programs with Ruby and it is fun for small “perl” size scripts, but there are numerous gotchas waiting for those creating large scale applications with it. Strong typing and having the compiler/ide catch errors and do the heavy lifting for you is actually a good thing. For instance I was writing a multi-threaded application with ruby and it turned out there were many problems and many functions weren’t thread-safe. For instance the yaml module wasn’t thread safe. Overall Ruby left a bad taste in my mouth.
