Venture-backed companies that had considered initial public stock offerings are pulling back from those plans, according to the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) in Arlington, Va. In a report released Oct. 1, the organization said it recorded six IPOs for the first three quarters of 2008, the lowest volume since 1977.
