jdd0027This link contains basic and very brief information about all aspects of the solar system. It provides a good resource for a teacher to pull information while preparing for an introductory lesson on the solar system for 2nd grade. Specifically it could be used on a lesson plan that aligns with Alabama Course of Study Requirements standard 11. "identify basic components of our solar system, including the sun, planets, and Earth's moon." It is written especially scientifically accurate and contains information that can easily be transitioned into use with younger children. This website met our criteria in selecting bookmarks because it aligns with an ALCOS standard, it does not require membership or fee to view, it contains objective information about space, and it is organized in a way that it is easy to select the specific topic in which you wish to gain information. We chose this website as opposed to others that are similar to it, because it is not too lengthy as to be hard to understand, but that it is accurate and organized by planet, making it a great use of information to pull from for an introductory lesson on space in order to build background knowledge.

deakobbeOverview:This site was intended to be an educational interactive learning site for students who are gathering information about the solar system while providing different levels so that each student is able to work at their own pace. This site gives the students facts about each planet and different parts of the solar system. While giving these facts in text form it also gives the students the option to have the segment read to them. This makes it nice for the younger students as well as the lower students in the class. I appreciated the fact that this site had no advertisements and that it combined facts with games and activities making it a lot easier to keep the students interested in the material that is being presented.Content:When first looking at this site you can easily see that this is a site used to educate students that are learning at different levels on the solar system. The information presented on this topic is updated and current because of this the quality and content of the site shows little to no bias.I appreciated the interactive activities that increased the value of the information that the students are able to obtain. Design:The design of the home page is very intriguing to the student that wants to know more. It was clear from the start that this site would be used to learn more about the solar system or the planets. Each planet had its own area and short activities that went along with it and the reading or informational section. They had a song that went along with the planets which makes it so that all types of learners are able to take something away from this site. Having this site be educational they link to other educational topics was useful. I find this site to be extremely useful for student to learn individually and also an amazing teaching aid to use when presenting new material in an interesting and exciting way.
