msceebaeThis has been an awesome discovery for me and especially my students who sometimes find wikipedia difficult to access due to language difficulty or lexical difficulty of the text in wikipedia. Having 'simple' attached or replace the 'en' will simplify the text so younger students and/or EAL students can still access the text without much difficulty.

Sue PerrySimple Wikipedia provides information in an easy to read format but not necessarily "dumbed down." Students who have trouble reading or are learning to read are provided a wealth of information as their counterparts. This is another example of differentiated learning. This tool is perfect for research. For example, students may be asked to create a glog about different branches of government in which they need to research the information. Students would be directed to the the appropriate Wikipedia for the learning needs or younger students could told to use this site.
