Interesting article. I've never liked Twitter. I've tried a couple of times though.

But what does following a lot of people say?
1. You’re trying to learn more.
2. You’re trying to meet more people.
3. You’re trying to be a better listener.
4. You’re communicating to the world that you’d like to be listened to (golden rule: treat people how you’d like to be treated).
5. You’re trying to find out about more stuff. More events. More stories.

Carl SetzerScoble adds some interesting insights into getting the most from Twitter.
-
Adam BohannonI’ve been talking to lots of people about Twitter. Why is it so addictive? Why do new tools, shipped for it, like Quotably was tonight, get passed around so fast and talked about so much?
-
Oliver Gassner"Now, I really don’t care about people who unfollow me anymore. Go ahead. Doesn’t make me feel bad. But the more people I follow, the smarter I get, the more connected I get, the better the experiences I have in life (see previous post)."

I honestly still dont fully get the buzz surrounding twitter. I get what it can bring but the problem is largley creating a network of people with whom you CARE about what they are doing.
I get its applications but just dont fully understand why its such a big deal. - 1 more sticky notes...

Some people have posted notes here (on Diigo) saying they don't understand the buzz around Twitter. I didn't get it either because I don't have a network of friends who use it, but when they introduced Tracking, everything changed -- all of a sudden, I can track topics and keywords, and I get messages from people I don't even know that are on topics I'm interested in.
