Kelly TSubject Access: Music
Topic: Using Songs For Teaching
Link: http://www.songsforteaching.com/index.htm
I visited this website because I wanted to learn about other ways and tools use to teach students. Since I would like to teach K-8, using songs/music to help students aid their learning process is beneficial. Like I've read before, the theory of having multiple ways of learning, music is one them. Adding a song to a curriculum takes no more then 5 minutes out of your day, so it shouldn't be too much. The website has songs ranging from numbers, science, grammar and even life learning skills. I would definitely include a song in my lessons, it takes little time and its fun to sing along too.
Teacher Helper:
Topic: Assessments
Link:http://www.rmcdenver.com/useguide/assessme/online.htm
I chose this articles because I currently have no knowledge of how to asses my students and their work. I found this website with links that guides teachers on the proper and most efficient way to asses your student. I clicked on a specific link titled, "How Can I Ensure the Integrity of My Assessments?" and it had a list of questions that made sure that my assessments were appropriate. I feel that this is important because I want to make sure that every student is being graded equally regardless of any other thoughts that I may have. -

brenda hazenIn the section of "Subject Areas", I chose the section about mathematics. In that section I looked through Calulators On-line Center that can calculate so many uses for vitually every type of math related subjects. This is extremely useful for my future classroom because it is nice to have a virtual "toolbox" during studies! In the section for "Teacher Helpers", I chose the section about bulletin board ideas. I found that creating an attractive bulletin requires a lot of creativity, but it is well worth the time! If it would attract a student's attention, then why not use it in the classroom?

Katie HarmonAmazing resource for educational sites organized by content. Use Career & Consumer Education. Also includes books, slideshows, Kathy's blog, etc.

john aguilarUnder the "Subject Access" list, there is a History link. I clicked on it and found a link that has special events, birthdays and death dates for any day of the year. I think this is very interesting and would be very useful because it can give students a personal connection to history by looking up facts that happened on their birthdays, and they might even be inspired to share the site at home and learn more.
In the "teacher Helper" list, I looked at the link where more books are listed for use in teaching. I found this interesting because it will be very useful for busy teachers who may not have time to do their own research and supplies them with a new resource. -

Breelin ObmannThis website offers a variety of subject access as well as help for teachers in different areas. Under Subject Access I chose to look under special education resources because I want to become a Speech Pathologist one day. Under this link I found Speech language Pathology websites in which allowed me to visit different web pages from different people and companies. This would be useful to me in my classroom because I could back up my information as well as build my knowledge in areas I had questions about. Under the Teacher Helpers column I looked under Slide Shows for Teaching. This could be helpful in my classroom because I could use visual aids in order to improve my therapy. It gives ideas and layouts about presentations for classroom settings.

Gina BullockSubject Access: I choose Kids Health which includes ways of keeping healthy and exercising. This interests me because throughout my years of education, I am passionate about incorporating physical education and health in the curriculum. This website had articles of staying healthy, learning how the body works, and healthy food choices.
Teacher Helpers: I chose bulletin boards ideas because I cannot wait to decorate my classroom. They posted Holidays, Subjects, Riddle of the day, technology log-in information etc. This gave a a lot of new ideas that helped further my ideas of what my classroom will look like.
what is interesting and areas of focus -
amyregardI want to become a special education teacher and under that heading I found "Social Skills for Middle School Students" and found this site to be a huge source that I can come to to help my students deal in social situations. It covers information from dealing with themselves to how to deal with peers and other adults. I can definitely see myself coming back to this website for guidance.
Looking through the "Teacher's Helper" I came across Kathy Schrock's web page and thought the way she set it up was amazing. She had all her information on this website and was able to go through her website with ease. I really liked the calendar that she had and how you were able to click on her events and it gave you detailed information. I will take the items that I liked on her website and use her idea as a way to create my own.#ed422 special ed teachers kathyschrock resources lessonplans

robertmendiolaThis site contains a list of educational links that can be used and integrated in the classroom.
Subject Access - I am highly interested in "Art and Architecture", which, has links to online databases of art and descriptions of processes. These links can be utilized for inspiration and possible lesson plans. I can use these links as demonstrations of specific types and genres of artwork. Their are also many sources on art access for special needs students
Teacher Helpers - Kathy has put together a page called "Presentation Support" which organizes and points out: multiple handouts for lessons, methods of presentation, curriculum organizers, etc. I can incorporate this int my classroom in order to vary content to better suite my student's needs. -
Stephanie LopezThere were many activities that i could have picked from but the one i picked was Fact monster for the fact that it has tons of information for students. the website was created to give students a chance to explore all that is available to them to learn in the world. It gives them no limit of learning and they are able to view history, math, news about the world as well as science. The next one that i picked was bulletin boards and art for the classroom because i believe in displaying art on the walls so that students may get information from the walls and help them with their assignment. I hope for to help them memorize this information and they will able to create things on their own when the time comes.

Caitlin MurrayI chose, under subject access, to look up World Info and Languages. I ended up at the CIA's webpage with the info on every country. It was fascinating to have knowledge about all the different countries right at my fingertips. For teacher helpers, I looked up critical evaluation information. I love having worksheets to teach students to evaluate the information they are looking at. I will definitely use these in my classroom to teach my students that not all information is good, usable information. This will be helpful for them in the future as they research more and more on the internet and less in books.

Ashley GuileUnder Subject Access, I chose History and Social Studies because my minor is history. After selecting History and Social Studies, I selected Best of History Websites because I know that finding reliable and interesting websites for history can be difficult. I like how the history website allows you to select the time frame you are interested in and search further from there. Under Teachers Helpers, I selected Bulletin Board Ideas because I want to teach elementary school and I am not super creative and decorative, so I think this is a useful site in getting new ideas to help develop and design bulletin boards that can change throughout the year.

jenlaban910I was interested in the Arts and Architecture section in the subject access portion of the website. I think it is super important to keep art in the classroom throughout the budget cuts that are affecting art programs in school. This site can be a useful tool when incorporating art into the classroom because it has links that incorporate different learning material and art. The portion of teachers helpers that interested me is the link for critical analysis of websites. It's important to keep in mind that a lot of things posted on the internet are not legitimate sources of information. With the critical analysis it is easy to examine whether or not a website should be used and this could be an important tool in using the internet in the classroom.

Corey MeramUnder the Subject Access I chose the History and Social Studies sub-section. In it were a variety of tools that could be useful for education in the subjects. I especially liked the Anyday in History link which can be used to provide historical significance to each day of class. Also the Avalon Project has proven beneficial before having used it in research papers.
Under the Teacher Helpers topics, I chose Slide Shows. In it I found a series of slide shows that help teachers ready themselves or both in-class and online work. -

Katherine PayneThe first area I focused on under "Subject Access" was about regions of the world & world languages. I found a website that brings together facts about countries organized by year, as well as maps, flags, and climate information. I think I would like to use this in the classroom because I feel that global knowledge is important. Also, it's fun sometimes just to look up the time or weather in a foreign country in real time, and bring a real element to a place that might be otherwise unknown. Under the "Teacher Helpers" section, I chose digital gadgets & podcasting in the classroom. I read an article on how to use digital cameras in lesson plans from creative writing to field trips and make it fun for everyone. I would definitely like to use this in my classroom because I love photography and will jump at any chance I have to use my camera. It's nice to know that there are professional ways to use it in the classroom.

Rosalie FischerSubject access had a great link for Learning Centers. I currently am working with student teachers and this would be a great resource for new teachers. It introduced literacy centers, classroom management, and ideas for implementing successful learning centers. The teacher's helpers tab was also a great tool for new teachers. The slide show link provided several power point presentations with a range of information from curriculum, computers, and classroom management. Again, a great resource for new teachers and/or student teacher mentoring.

rachellynn11In the "Subject Access" section, I chose the health, physical education, and fitness area. This section provides links to children health websites that give nutritional information and recommendations. There are also websites that provide teachers with activity ideas that promote fitness with other lessons like, community-building and anti-bullying. Educating students on the importance of good health and exercise habits will help them live a happy and healthy life. I want to provide my students with the knowledge so that they can practice healthy habits throughout their lives.
In the "Teacher Helpers" section, I chose the slide shows area. Since technology is becoming more prevalent in classrooms, it is important to become aware and utilize all the online tools that are available. One of the presentations describes different websites that help teachers create quizzes, worksheets, puzzles, graphs, and maps. There are also websites to help teachers stay organized with checklists and calendars. I can use the different sites to keep myself organized and to create effective assignments and quizzes for my students.ed422 fitness 'physical education slide shows presentations education

khuhn90Under subject access I looked at holidays and celebration. This tab was filled with educational activities for several holidays. I find this tab helpful because I think learning about holidays are fun and a great way for students to understand history of other cultures, which will help diverse students. Under the teacher helpers I took a look at the tab assessment and rubrics. This tool is helpful because it has several rubrics and assessment in subjects for school. This website is helpful for my future in teaching because it is filled with helpful ideas to about subjects, as well as tools to teach those subjects.

David CummingsI clicked on Sports under Subject Access. There is a directory with a link to ESPN, as well as other links to other sports pages such as Nfl.com mlb.com nhl.com etc...I'm not impressed so far, as she doesn't mention anything about running, triathlons, wrestling, and other sports that have websites.
I clicked on Bulletin Board Ideas and I was a little more impressed with the set-up she had going on, but I feel this website is more geared towards the elementary school teachers. -
pndavis208In the "Subject Area" I chose science and technology. These tools listed lesson plans and ideas to have children become involved with the community. In particular the environment. The guide has links to contest from the United States Environmental Protection Agency, activities for teaching kids to recycle, and basic terms that students and teachers should know. All of this information will be a useful application in a future classroom. In the "Teacher Helpers", I chose available presentations. In this link I will be able to use the information gained in a future classroom. Some of the presentations consist of learning "60 Tech Tips in 60 Minutes", and "Must-Have Tech Skills for Teachers".

Tara SwensonSubject Access: Vandergrift's Young Adult Literature Page will be of great assistance to me when I am teaching English at the high school level. This website provides an extensive list of books appropriate for a literature class for young adults. The books are categorized into "Feminist Readings," "Male-coming-of-age stories," "Fairy Tales," etc. It also provides a section on Reader response criticism, which I will be able to use to ensure the students have completed the readings necessary.
Teacher Helpers: Secondary School Level Bulletin Board Ideas will help in my future to decide what the class bulletin board will look like. With younger grades, bulletin boards can be used in many ways, but as the students get older, it gets harder to keep their attention. These sample ideas will help me ensure that the students do not feel like they are in a first grade classroom, but rather, a high school English classroom. -
jury001I really love the idea of having a garden for students at the school I teach at but how I would incorporate that into a lesson plan always puzzled me, this site has tons of ideas! The "Inspiration in the Classroom" under "assessments and rubrics" under "teacher helpers" was also a great because there were many resources for kids to practice specific areas and subjects as well as under "Discovery Chanel: Plants Lesson Plans" under "Biological Sciences and Animal Sites".

Courtney OrtizThe subject access area I chose was Career and Consumer Ed, and within that I chose to look at a site dedicated to DIY. This was a great page the included useful tips on all kinds of projects and life skills. The article I read was about developing a budget, paying off debts, and balancing check books. I think this would be a great way of incorporating math and life skills in the classroom. My students could be assigned an on-going project in which they are each given a career and income, monthly expenses, a "checkbook", and instructed to develop a monthly budget and maintain their checkbooks.
The Teacher Helpers area I looked at was Critical Evaluation Tools. I thought this was also a great resource. The site provides worksheets that students can use to evaluate the reliability of websites and other internet resources they may want to use on a project. This is a great thing for kids to be aware of because there are a lot of sites out there that are complete bull.Ed422 resources education technology lessonplans teaching teachers classroom kathyschrock

hanks004The history section of this site really fascinated me. I already bookmarked a resource for the Great Depression but this is a better extension of visual aids for the classroom. It has magazine articles, magazine covers, sports news, lands in the 30s and what they are like now. I like this resource because it provides a greater picture and capture of American society during this time. I also looked at Effective Search Strategies. I liked this presentation because it allows me to show my students how the computer processes their information when they search for something in a search engine. This is important for historians especially, because they need to think creatively when it comes to looking up information.

American Museum of Photography
I visited the American Museum of Photography website which contained a lot of interesting photographs of important people and events in history. I think I can use this website in my history lesson plans to give an illustration to my students about the material they are learning. For example, if I am talking about Helen Keller I can find a picture of her and show my students.
Teacher Helper
Kathy’s books
I decided to view Kathy’s books and one interesting book that caught my attention was titled Microsoft Publisher for Every Day of the School Year: Project Templates which includes 180 ready-made templates for teachers to use with Microsoft. I think this book would be great for new teachers because it provides them with ideas for projects that can be done with a computer. For example, if I want to do an art activity I can use this teacher helper to inspire me with possible art projects. -
