Allowing students choices regarding how they are going to represent their information does involve a slower, more informed type of teaching. We discuss many issues in great deal. One of which is simply quality. What makes a quality... video? powerpoint presentation? essay?, etc. Sounds simple but it isn't. Everyone knows quality when they see it, but how do you define it?
Yes, they definitely do lose marks for things such as poor transitions, lighting, sound, grammar, etc. That is why kids need to fully understand their medium before creating a text in it. Look at examples (both bad and good), break them down to understand them fully, and only then create in the same medium.
