dcooper14This site is amazing to help lessen the distractions of using Youtube and having all the ads and other related videos pop up while I am trying to teach using a video. I would also use this when students ask for their break time and want to watch videos.

jessoberThis is a site where students can view videos without any of the comments. I think this search engine could be used for all kinds of different topics or units in school. I think watching short clips about certain topics discussed in school, collecting videos to include in a presentation or project. I think teachers could even assign videos for students to search using this and then complete and assignment or activity following the video.

If you sometimes feel the YouTube interface too busy and risky for your classroom, this application will be of interest to you. This little button in the toolbar helps. It will hide all the related videos and extraneous stuff. Perfect for the little kids. -

Cindy ShawI have introduced Quietube to my teachers through my monthly newsletter. I have shown the members of the English Department how to use it in class. Teachers liked how easy it was to use and thought it would be helpful to lessen the distractions on the screen. They liked the clean look of the videos. Some teachers plan on having students utilize on their computers when they are asked to watch on their own. It is a tool that students can put in their own toolkit to help them stay focused.

dsims2Quietube allows you to play YouTube and other online videos without the comment section or related videos in view. This will allow students to not be distracted by any of the extra parts on the screen. It will also allow for teachers to show content without the fear of inappropriate ads or comments on the videos.

Audrey HooverQuietube is a great resource for the classroom, especially in early childhood education when you have to be especially mindful of your audience. Quietube allows you to play and share videos without the comments or adds. Instead, you only play the video and have none of the excess information. In the early childhood classroom, this is great to use when sharing videos online with young learners so that you do not have to be concerned about any inappropriate ads, comments, or videos that will pop up. Additionally, it helps to keep students engaged rather than distracted by other content.
-
Nicole AtkinsonQuietube is a site where videos online can be played without all of the distracting features that come with most videos (comments, other video suggestions). It plays the video you want to watch and surrounds it with a white background - all of the other annoying or temping links are gone. Quietube would be very beneficial to my classroom. We use computers all the time and students tend to get distracted if they are watching a video by all the other videos that come up on the sides. They sometimes think they can get away with watching a different video than the one assigned. Quietube would allow for students to watch a video and I would not have to worry about checking in every couple of minutes to make sure they are not playing around with the videos in the sidebar. Quietube has the option for the students to make the video "quiet" on their own or the teacher can create a URL linking to the "quiet" version of the video. It also works with many different video streaming websites so teachers are not limited to obtaining videos from one area.

Julina NoceraQuietube provides students with a distraction-free environment to watch video content. This resource can be easily added to the bookmarks of any computer and allows students to eliminate extra text, advertisements, or comments that usually appear around video sources. Students and teachers can access a video at the original URL, and then click on the “quietube” bookmark which will direct them to the website that shows only the video content and none of the extra information that usually appears around video sources. In addition to providing students with a distraction free environment, it ensures educators are providing students with solely the information that they intended. It eliminates worry for inappropriate comments, tags, or other videos to arise during the video. Quietube provides a focused video viewing experience for students.
-
You can then make short URLs too, to send the quietube version to your friends.

Kimberly FluddIn my Orchestra class I often show videos of performances and demonstrations to my students. Quiettube is an add-on that I use and is very helpful in my classroom. This add-on program can be used when watching YouTube videos or using other video based websites. Often times, the advertisements, upcoming videos and comments are very inappropriate so having this add-on gives censorship and a peace of mind that you won't be getting a phone call from a parent the next day. Having this filter ensures that students are focused on just the video you are showing and are not distracted with everything that tends to be surrounding the videos.

Alexis SimonettaQuiettube is not a website, but an add-on you can use while utilizing YouTube, Vimeo, or other video based websites. The program acts as a filter on your video page. Instead of seeing the ads and other videos available to go along with what you have chosen, it simply shows your video in the center of the screen with no distracting stimuli. Utilized in a music classroom, this will make it much easier to show example videos of instruments or performances without the distraction of the precursor advertisement or the sometimes distasteful comments that align the sides of the page. With videos being such an entertaining medium in the classroom, this will make it easier to use them without the fear of anything inappropriate coming across the screen. In the elementary classroom this is extremely important. Younger students are very perceptive and in a music class the attention should be given to the example at hand. This will assist with keeping attention in the correct place.

When you want to show a youtube video, but you don’t want to risk having students view the ads and recommended videos, you can use Quietube. With just one simple step, the youtube video appears on a blank, white screen, free of ads and recommendations. So easy!

I will definitely use this with my students. We watch numerous YouTube videos that help enhance a subject that we are studying in class. When I click on quietube, all of the ads and other videos that relate to the one that I am showing is gone. Before this wonderful widget, I would always mute the screen (so it couldn't be seen by the students) until the video started playing. I will share this with my colleagues as well. -

rkwokrkwokAwesome for video presentations and instruction!
With quietube, no longer will students stare at the comments and other suggested videos on the bottom and right hand of the screen. I would recommend the use of ad block for the most powerful, non distracting video presentations. Teachers can use this to supplement instruction. Students can use this to present YouTube videos without classroom disruptions related to inappropriate advertisements and comments. -

kmokaneQuietube is an add-on that will remove all comments and sidebars from videos. Currently Quietube is only compatible with Youtube, Viddler, and Vimeo, but that covers quite a range of resources. While it is offered as a Chrome extension, I see that link sharing feature to be most useful for students themselves in an elementary setting. It is somewhat ironic that Quietube hosts its own ads, while removing the clutter from other web pages. It should also be noted that while Quietube removes the videos in the sidebar, it does not eliminate the "Watch this Next" screen that comes at the end of Youtube videos and may not be school-friendly. I will share this with my teachers so that they can show "distraction-free" content to their students and I know I will use it in the library to show book trailers, informational clips, and more without worrying about students focusing on the wrong part of the page.

KRISTA WYMANQuietube provides a safe, distraction-free outlet for viewing media such as YouTube, Viddler, and Vimeo. After adding the Quietube button to your bookmarks bar, visit the video you wish to view, click on the Quietub button and you can view the video on a simple, unadorned white background. There's also an option to create shortened urls of that video.
This is a great resource to use in classrooms, especially for younger grades. At times, the comments made by viewers are inappropriate and unhelpful; by using Quietube, you can eliminate that obstacle. Also, sites like YouTube offer suggested videos to view after yours ends. Mary Lee XenosBy dragging this button to your toolbar and clicking it when ready, you can change the way YouTube appears on your screen. Quietube eliminates comments and "recommended" videos that are normally visible on the side and bottom of the YouTube/Vimeo/other video screens.
This is going to be useful when showing YouTube vidoes. No longer will I worry that an inappropriate, sometimes unrelated video shows up on the side of my screen, or that someone rude has posted an unsuitable and/or profane comment below the video itself. This will be a great way to help kids stay focused on the topic and not allow their eyes to "wander" to other distractions on the screen during your videos/lessons. -

Jason AgressQuietube allows you to link to YouTube and other videos without the accompanying content (i.e. advertisements and comments) that are usually on the site. This can be really useful for students to help keep them from being distracted by the extraneous content. Also, this can help keep students from viewing inappropriate content that may be in the ads or comments. In general, this helps make using online media content as part of a class much easier to view and with less potential issues.

Shelley Hull" Videos without the distraction": this web tool largely lives up to its claim (aside from the lone and innocuous ad at the bottom of the videos it regenerates). You can take videos from host sites like YouTube and create versions without the distracting content such as lists of related videos and user comments. You can also create and send or post URLs of these versions for students and others. When students share videos with others, in a wiki or other shared space online, they can use this tool to share content that has fewer distractions and help create the best conditions for learning in their classroom communities.

I use Youtube videos a lot in my classroom but I have to be very careful because once the video ends, dozens of other video links pop up. Not all of them are appropriate for kids to see. Quietube takes those unwanted links away so students can just focus on the video they are meant to watch.
