RED footage is entirely different from other HD
video or film footage. The RED camera has a digital sensor the exact same size as a 35mm frame, and you can attach 35mm lenses directly on the camera, simulating the same depth of field as if you were shooting 35mm making it feel very cinematic. The footage itself is encoded to a format called .R3D along with the Metadata. Metadata is a small part of the file containing shoot data, timecode and many relevant parts of the process. You can change things such as the ISO and other settings that you choose while shooting.
