after purchasing the web browser plugin (which requires your serial no. (on the box) and product key (from settings-system screen)) you download a small .aos file from archos.com and copy it to the root directory on the 605 via usb. When you remove the usb cable an install option will appear.
And yes, it is very good, youtube.com videos work flawlessly, wikipedia articles are readable at page-width zoom level and scroll smoothly with the stylus or your finger. I’m entering this via a 605, it’s only about twice as slow compared to a real keyboard.
I expect even better things, since the os is linux based, eg a java vm in a future update
