The problem with subliminal advertising is that it works.

In the above case, we see brand logos being flashed for just long
enough to register in the collective mind of the audience. However,
this sort of advertising can take other forms as well - product
placement in video games, billboard backdrops during a live broadcast,
jingles remixed in the backing audio track, etc.

These techniques are greatly enhanced by the use of strobing lights.
Such lights combined with audio signals will definitely affect the way
    you think.

For example, police cars - have you ever pulled over on a busy
highway to let a police car pass? Did you do it because you saw the
unmistakable flashing lights and the sound of the siren? Exactly.
Stimulus leading to an unconscious reaction (you didn't even think
about pulling over - you just did).

    Same here.

TV sets and light bulbs strobe light at your eyes at around 100Hz
and 50Hz respectively - depending on where you live. It's enough to put
your mind in a very receptive and passive alpha state.

This is why there will never be any complaints about the practice of
subliminal advertising. This is why it is illegal in principle. This is
also why it is being used every day - everywhere you look.

Knowledge and understanding of subliminal advertising is essential for protection. Watch out for those "rapid cuts"...
