NoSquint, a Firefox addon specializing in font size, is my choice for keeping fonts readable. You can set a global default setting to apply to all sites.
What's really cool is that you can create patterns so that you can apply different settings to the same site (think Google Reader, Google Docs, Google mail, etc). Best of all you can adjust the font size using the regular Firefox shortcut of control-scroll wheel, and NoSquint will save that setting as your default.
NoSquint is one of my must-install addons!
