Foxmarks lets you easily back up your bookmarks to the Foxmarks server and sync them to any browser with the extension installed.
Today I'll detail how to use the Foxmarks extension to back up and sync your bookmarks to your own personal FTP server, whether it's with a hosted account or your own home server.

You can set up a Foxmarks sync on any FTP server, whether it's a hosted server or your own home FTP server. If you don't have a hosted FTP server, you can still take advantage of Foxmarks' back up and syncing options by setting up a home FTP server.

Footnotes:
[1] If you have WebDAV installed on your server, you can set up Foxmarks to use WebDAV in basically the same manner as FTP, which should give you more flexibility in merging bookmarks on first-runs. The Foxmarks wiki recommends WebDAV as "faster and more robust than FTP", but either should work (I've never had a problem using Foxmarks with FTP). The only thing to keep in mind is that as Foxmarks continues to develop, it looks like FTP will be less likely to support new features.
