Discussion about use of ICT with 'senior' teachers. I realised reading this that in terms of age and also years in the classroom I am probably getting on for senior. I dislike what I perceive to be the writers tone, assuming that the teachers will inevitably be recalcitrant or ignorant about technology and its use. It's hardly surprising that they have done most of their teaching in classrooms - that's the way schools are set up.
"Being aware of and using modern technology is not enough; this is something that was made clear to me from the discussions within the group of senior teachers." Really? I have some sympathy with the author, but 'transformation' is not necessarily required. Change will happen anyway, and some of it will be driven by technology and much of it will be good we hope. But the idea that education needs to be turned on its head because of technological change needs to be challenged vigorously.
Another timely, thought-provoking (and somewhat long) post, about the inappropriate use of technology in education.
In my view, it's essential that people know when NOT to use technology. Read the post, decide for yourself.
