You're right. Well, not worthless, but not the same. Convertors are scrap'd for the platinum inside. Average auto convertors will see $75-100, and foreign ones can average upwards of $250. Make sure it's full before you waste your time. If they are hollow, or broken up, they aren't worth squat! New diesel ones aren't worth your time either.
*edit* On a side note, this only goes for factory convertors. Most aftermarket ones have no platinum innards. |

Your close, American cats = 70 average, Imports = 100 average, benz and bmw can get as much as 250, aftermarket = 10 average, diesel = 25,
at least on the west coast.
The recyclers have about 20 catagory's for cats, They salvage the platinum and rodium thats in them, Your local muffler shop may purchase them on the side.
