GUERILLA LIBRARIANSHIP
I came across this term at the University of Virginia, and it was used to describe
programs and services being developed by Library staff as they increasingly took the
Library outside the library building(s). Examples include library staff setting up
Information Desk outposts in common student areas such as Student Union buildings,
and Halls of Residence. The concept was also being explored at UBC, where library
staff were considering setting up a Roving Librarian program. Staff members,
equipped with laptops and taking advantage of the wireless environment, would set up
Ask Us Here stands at various high use student venues / locations, and during various
high activity programs such as Orientation.
