Dell's leaked E6400 ATG for mustachioed, overall types (just not Mario)

So you like the looks of Dell's 14.1-inch Latitude E6400 do ya? Well what if we told you that Dell plans a semi-rugged E6400 ATG version? While it won't replace Dell's fully-rugged XFR D630 when the ATG launches in June, we can't help but be intrigued at the prospect of a dust-proof, shock-proof, and spill-proof, humidity and altitude resistant Centrino 2 laptop with super bright 750cd/m2 (or 650cd/m2 touchscreen) display, GPS, UWB, DisplayPort and more. Why would Mario need a laptop while going around pipes fighting Bowser?

Last I checked, Mario didn't really have a strategy that demanded the computing power of a Dell to save Peach.

Guess you don't watch 24. All threats (even Bowser) can be stopped with computers these days. Just open a socket and use your parallel processor to restore the contents of the broken flash chip and decrypt the remaining file fragments to find the location of the guy who can be interrogated to reveal the location of Bowsers's castles secret back door.

Anytime you buy a PC with an OS preinstalled you should be formatting it the second it comes in the door and reinstalling. Nothing is as clean as an OS straight off the CD/DVD.

First off if you don't like the crapware reinstall the OS. Secondly Dell isn't doing this to go after Panasonic. Rugged laptops are a niche market at best. This is simply to give corp accounts the option of getting a rugged Dell if they need to deploy one in the field. If a company has a Dell corp account and their entire fleet of laptops are Dell they generally don't want to place a one off in their environment just for ruggedness.

And why complain? Dell DOES provide you with discs for performing a clean install of the OS.

Eh... been spoiled by Panasonic, I guess, then. I like being able to use my computer out of the box. Turn it on and go. 1 day not wasted (why no, I'm not so good with OS reinstallations).

And I hardly think that Panasonic is in a niche market. They're certainly not in the same category as HP/Toshiba/etc, but they're not unique either. I'd consider my Let's Note (JP model, called a Toughbook in the States) CF-T5 on par with some upper-end Sony laptops.
