ADVERTISEMENTS
Most of the time, Windows users are reluctant to switch to a Mac. One amongst many reasons is that they found it hard to search for free softwares/applications for the Mac. Some of them have already switched to a Mac, but they're still running Windows OS on a Mac.
It's such an irony that actually there are mountains of free Mac applications available for us. After days of working on this, I've come out with list of free and useful Mac applications.
I've categorized and arranged the order of applications so that it will be extremely easy for you to find applications you need for your Mac.
Continue reading and you will see fabulous list of 100+ Free Mac OS X Applications!

Tnx for your great list! I think you should add one more video watch app that called Movist. It is great application almost like vlc but the best thing about it that you have much more control and Especially with subtitles that it present it with great view and not like vlc that make the sub to look bad. in conclusion i am hopping that you will take a look on this program and if i am not wrong it developed by google.

I don't get MacLoc. You can add the built-in Mac OS X fast user switching menu item to the menubar and from there choose the "Login Window..." menu item. Why install a program to get functionality that's already baked in?

Sidenote (http://www.chatelp.org/?p=50) is a great note-taking, image-storing free app which slides out of the side of the screen. I use it every day. Also InstantShot! (http://projects.digitalwaters.net/index.php?q=ishot_download) is great for screenshots. Glad to see you've got a lot of my faves! Great list!

Awesome list. Many programs I didn't know. One things I feel it's missing is the AppTrap uninstaller (http://konstochvanligasaker.se/apptrap/). One thing I like over other alternatives is that you don't have to do anything special to use it, it's perfectly integrated into Finder. That means that when you move an application to the Trash Bin, it shows a pop-up with the list of files that the app is leaving on the system, and you can also move them to the trash in a single click.

You don't need GMail Nortifr, IMHO. Just configure your e-mail software program to download through Gmail's POP3. I set up my Apple Mail program to do just that and added a Smart mailbox so I know where mail was coming from. No need to use up CPU resources and RAM to do something just about any available e-mail program can do.

Thanks for your list - I really like how pretty much every app on there is a REALLY useful one, and that you don't pile different alternatives on top of one another. As an online-research junky with a bad memory, I've been looking for an app that archives absolutely everything I view on the internet - all in files that Spotlight can search through. And when I finally found one, it was free: the MM3 WebAssistant Proxy Offline Browser. (what a name!) The only problem I have with it so far is that I can't open files it has saved directly from the finder in my browser. I'm also not sure what effect it has on performance. But if it's light-weight enough, it's exactly what I want in the age of large hard drives: a record of absolutely everything I've read and looked at online. PS: it's a java app, with a weird (by mac standards) but refreshingly simple interface and great step-by-step instructions in german-idiom-influenced english:)

I love this list! One I think you should add though is SMC Fan Control which I think is the most important/useful app ever! Macs tend to get VERY hot and this app is very easy to use, and automatically changes the rpm you set whenever you are charging your mac or just simply using it or both! This significantly cools down your mac :) http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/23049

Eh, they still suck. Macs are just too limited, and there's just too little they are capable of doing. They are a very rigid machine made by a very rigid company that doesn't like other companies making software, especially free software. You don't own a Mac, Apple allows you to use a Mac.
