PUBLIC HIGHLIGHTS...
ok so I am STILL not getting it...was dabbling today and still don't see how you can highlight to make something public..is it doable....I am using firefox

I was dabbling with Kristin. I have the public choice in IE, but not in Firefox (both on Windows XP)

Kristin,

A highlight only becomes public if it is associated with a public inline note. After you make a highlight, move your cursor over the highlight to add an inline sticky note, and choose "public" in the pull-down menu.

Please go up to your FF diigo toolbar, and make sure that Highlight>> "Don't show highlight" option is not accidentally checked somehow. To un-check (ie. to display the highlight), just click again (make sure there is no "check sign).

I'm doing as you suggested, but I'm not seeing the public choice in Firefox. In IE I can "Highlight and Comment" or "Comment, then Add a Floating Sticky Note" - in the resulting dialog box I have choices of public, private and groups. But in Firefox, I only have private and groups. "Don't show highlight" is unchecked in firefox.

In creating the highlight on Kristin's message I highlighted the text, clicked on the Highlight button, choose "Highlight and Comment", from there I made the sticky public. I'm curious if this message is a public highlight where I only chose "Highlight Selection".

I'm curious about the results for this also. I don't have public as an option in my pulldown sticky menu. I have private and my group names to choose from to see the highlight.

FYI: Joel confirmed that this is a bug triggered by our latest update.. and Karl is right - only in FF and not in IE.

Joel just informed me that the bug should be fixed.

For those who experience some problem in FF, please sign out and sign in again (very important), then try again (note: >= 2 friends is still a requirement.)

Did some testing with maggie today...seems like this is fixed
